I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life a champion’

Selma-Montgomery-Tuskegee Tennis Foundation received its 501(c)(3) tax exempt status in 1996.  The purpose of the Foundation is to provide tennis opportunities for at-risk children turning no one away.  As a result of these tennis lessons, tournaments, and camps, many children have an opportunity to participate on high school tennis teams and attend college on a tennis scholarship.  In addition, the Foundation has taken note of the current state of men’s tennis in the United States.  Specifically, according to Erik Johnson in an article dated March 15, 2011 titled “Men’s Tennis Stars and Gripes: The Sorry State of U. S. Tennis”, “An American has not won a Grand Slam singles tournament since Andy Roddick captured the U. S. Open in 2003”.

An additional mission and vision is to participate in this effort to train top tennis players to represent America in international competition.  We need funding to assist players with travel, access to a strength and conditioning coach, sports psychologist to assist with the mental game, and certified tennis teaching professionals to help with tennis strokes.  We need your support to help us bridge the financial gap between where they are now and what they want to accomplish.
